UCSF Health Patient Lost Property

Patients are discouraged from bringing valuable items to the hospital. UCSF Health is not responsible for personal belongings and valuables kept by a patient during their stay or procedure. Please note that after evaluation by the hospital unit or department, reimbursement may not be provided for all lost items.

Please refer to # 5 'Personal Valuables' on the 'Terms and Conditions of Service: Admissions and Medical Services' document for more information.

  1. If you are currently a patient at UCSF, please immediately notify your UCSF hospital unit's nursing staff that your property is missing.
  2. If you were a former patient at UCSF, please call the UCSF mainline (415) 476-1000 and ask to be transferred to the hospital unit/department where your property was lost.

Ask them to follow the proper procedures on the employee-only UCSF Health Risk Management website's Patient Lost Property section, https://rm.ucsfmedicalcenter.org/risk-management
