UCSF Health Patient Lost Property

Patients are discouraged from bringing valuable items to the hospital. Per terms and conditions, UCSF Health is not responsible for personal belongings and valuables kept by a patient during their stay or procedure. Please note that after evaluation by the unit, reimbursement may not be provided for all lost items.

  1. If you are currently a patient at UCSF,  please immediately notify your UCSF unit's nursing staff that your property is missing. Ask them to follow the proper procedures on the employee-only UCSF Health Risk Management website's Patient Lost Property section.
  2. If you are directed to UCSF Health Patient Relations or Risk Management for your lost property, you will be directed back to the unit for assistance.
  3. If you believe that your property was stolen, please immediately call UCPD at (415) 476-1414.
  4. If you have been discharged from UCSF,  please try to contact the hospital unit where your items were lost. If you are not able to get through to them please fill out our online form: "click on this link".
